In our time, the word entertains has come to mean many things. It has become a key cultural category with the power to shape the way people view and perceive each other. Entertaiment has the ability to cross over all media and is constantly being re-interpreted in new ways. The word entertainment comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere, a combination of the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere meaning to hold inside.

What is it?

It is any activity that gives enjoyment, amusement or pleasure. It can be for just one person or for a large audience, such as a performance.
